Sock World Record 2026

For 2026, there are two significant sock world record events: Zeulenroda set the record for the longest clothesline in August 2025 with over 140,000 socks, while the Swiss Yarn Festival (SYF) 2026 is kicking off a new world record attempt with hand-knitted socks, with the official record attempt scheduled for SYF 2027.

Previous Record (Summer 2025): Zeulenroda-Triebes 

  • What: Longest sock clothesline in the world.
  • Result: Over 140,000 individual socks.
  • When: August 2025.
Occasion: 700th anniversary of Zeulenroda-Triebes. 



Future Record Attempt: Swiss Yarn Festival 
  • Goal: Collect at least 36,000 pairs of hand-knitted socks.
  • Start: Official launch at SYF 2026 (early 2026).
  • Record Attempt: Official counting and display at the Swiss Yarn Festival 2027.
  • Donation: The knitted socks will be donated to those in need.
